How long does it take to set up social media for a business?

About 30 minutes if you claim only the two or three platforms your customers actually check and reuse one bio across them. Doing all eight from scratch — writing each bio fresh, learning each platform's process, resizing images — takes 3-5 hours.

Why This Matters

The setup itself isn't hard. What kills most business owners is the decision-making friction. "What should my bio say? What category do I pick? Should I use my personal email or business email? What size should my logo be?" These micro-decisions stack up and turn a 30-minute task into a project that gets pushed to "next week" indefinitely. The businesses that get profiles set up fastest use a tool that eliminates those decisions — scanning their website, generating bios, and providing step-by-step instructions for each platform.

Real-World Example

A solo chiropractor put "set up social media" on her to-do list for three months. She'd open Instagram, stare at the bio field, not know what to write, and close the app. What unstuck her was dropping the idea of doing all of them. She copied two sentences from her own website's about page, trimmed them to fit, and used the same text on Google Business Profile, Facebook and Instagram. LinkedIn waited a month. The whole job took one sitting between appointments, because it was three profiles instead of eight.

What Most People Get Wrong

Business owners treat social media setup like a big project requiring a "social media day." It's not. It's a series of 2-3 minute tasks per platform. The bio is the hard part, and if a tool writes it for you, each platform takes less time than ordering coffee. Don't batch it — just do the next one.
