The two useful hooks do different jobs.
Problem and comparison hooks earned the highest engagement rates in this cohort. A homeowner with a sticking door, or an owner dreading a hard conversation with an employee, can recognize their own situation in the first line. The data measures the result, not the psychological cause.
Question hooks averaged 0.44 comments per post despite a below-average engagement rate. That was second among deliberate hooks, just behind problem hooks at 0.48. Questions remain useful when a business genuinely wants an answer, but they were not the engagement leader here.

Formats are compared among no-hook posts only, so the hook effect above doesn't contaminate the format comparison:

Methodology And Limitations
This benchmark uses the exact 648-row analytics cohort first studied on July 22, 2026. The reproducible cohort predicate is an inner join from post_analytics.post_id to content_posts.id, limited to analytics rows created on or before 2026-07-22T20:03:04.000Z. The hook comparison then limits the cohort to post_type = post and groups by hook_type; the format comparison limits it to rows where hook_type is empty and groups by post_type.
Engagement rate is the current cumulative per-post rate supplied by the connected platforms, averaged within each group. Comments and saves are current cumulative totals divided by the number of posts in that group. The aggregate was read on August 10, 2026 at 17:00 UTC. Limitations worth stating plainly: the analytics table stores one cumulative row per post and overwrites it during sync. It does not retain historical metric snapshots. That means the original cohort counts can be recreated, but the July 22 percentages cannot; 645 of the 648 rows had been updated after the original snapshot. This page therefore reports a fresh August 10 read of the frozen cohort. Several groups are small, including 15 how-to posts and 14 quote graphics. The businesses are predominantly local and service-based, and the posts span mixed platform combinations. These are operating observations, not universal laws or causal proof.
