How do you create a Google Business Profile?
To create a Google Business Profile, go to Google's Business Profile setup flow, add or claim your business, follow the on-screen details, choose a verification method, and then complete the profile with accurate categories, hours, services, photos, website, phone number, and regular updates. If your business already appears on Google Search or Maps, claim the existing profile instead of creating a duplicate.
Google My Business is the older name people still search for. The current product is Google Business Profile.
Quick Setup Steps
- Sign in with the Google Account you want tied to the business.
- Search Google or Maps first to see whether the business profile already exists.
- If it exists, claim the business and follow the management prompts.
- If it does not exist, add your business through Google's Business Profile setup flow.
- Enter the real business name, primary category, phone number, website, address or service area, and hours.
- Choose one of the verification options Google offers for that profile.
- Complete verification before assuming the profile is fully controlled.
- Add services, photos, products or menu items if relevant, and a simple first post.
What To Prepare First
Have these ready before you start:
- Business name exactly as it appears in the real world
- Main business category
- Public phone number
- Website URL
- Address or service area
- Hours
- Logo and a few real photos
- Proof that you own or manage the business, in case Google asks for verification
The verification method is not something you can always choose freely. Google decides which options are available for each business, and some businesses may need more than one verification step.
What If The Business Is Already On Google?
Do not create a second listing. Search for the business name and city on Google or Google Maps, open the profile, and look for the claim or manage option. If someone else controls it, you may need to request ownership.
Duplicate profiles can confuse customers and make local visibility messier than it needs to be.
What To Do After It Is Verified
Once the profile is verified, keep the basics current: hours, services, phone number, website, photos, and reviews. Then post useful updates: seasonal reminders, finished work, service explanations, offers, menu changes, customer questions, and review highlights.
The profile is not a one-time setup task. Local customers often see it right before they call, book, visit, or compare you with someone nearby.
Where Boomp Fits
Boomp does not replace the claim and verification step. The business owner still needs control of the Google Business Profile first.
After that, Boomp can help keep the profile active by creating posts from the business website, preparing them for approval, and publishing approved posts to Google Business Profile and connected social channels.
